I remember sitting on a small cement stoop in front of my first shop back in 1983. It was a hot July 4th morning, one of the hottest on record — way too hot to be working in the shop. Although I had work in progress, I was broke, tired, stressed, had no insurance or paid vacations, a college loan that was due and, worst of all I didn't have a clue on how to run a business.
