Unrealistic American Expectations

During a recent conversation with one of my cousins (Thank you Mike) from the U.K. the topic of American expectations came up. He seemed to feel that many Americans were developing an almost adolescent insecurity. This was especially the case when Americans tried to understand how they are viewed by the rest of the world.
